| Welcome Welcome to the website of Richmond Rovers Junior Football Club - the Premier Junior Football Club in Poynton, Cheshire, England, the United Kingdom, Europe, the Northern Hemisphere, the World, the Universe - oh , alright then ..... in our bit of Poynton. Richmond Rovers is a thriving Junior Football Club in the North West of England, near the major footballing cities of Stockport and Manchester. The club's teams play in the Stockport Metro Leagues. For all general enquiries to the Club please e-mail enquiries@richmondrovers.co.uk or look up the appropriate managers details on our contacts page ( which can be found the menu on the left hand side) Club
History The name Richmond was selected at random from a local telephone directory to compliment the Rovers suffix. The teams played at Park Rd, adjacent to Cheadle Town Football Club, and at Davenport School, Stockport, with players based in the South Stockport area. During the 90's the club evolved to what it is today - Poynton based, managing teams from Under 7's up to Under 17's. Some Clubs may measure their success in terms of the number of cups and trophies in their 'trophy cabinets' but we consider our success to be measured by the pleasure and opportunity given to local youngsters and them having the chance to participate in regular organised football activities. This isn't to say we don't strive to achieve honours each season but we don't want to sacrifice participation in the search for glory FA Charter Standard
The
FA Charter Standard Clubs programme, supported by FA Community Partner
McDonald's, was launched in February 2001 with the aim of setting
standards of coaching, administration and child protection for
clubs working with young people. The programme is aimed at boys and girls under 16 and will help
children and parents find in their local area a club that meets FA
standards of coaching, administration, development and child protection. Youth Clubs need to demonstrate :-
However maybe the most important benefit is the recognition, from The FA, that the club provides a safe, quality environment for its young players. |
